I want to welcome my friend Angela. She is going to share with us how she transformed her mantel for free!
I had been searching for an idea for my Christmas mantle and wanted to do something a little different. I found a sign I liked on etsy...but it was $100, and seriously, there is no way I would pay that. But, I did have a pallet here! Soooo, I made my own! I used 2, .59 cent tubes of craft paint...that I already had here. I love how it came out.
I used some clippings off my tree, placed them on the mantle, added a strand of white lights that I already had.
Then I sent my kids out to collect sticks! I made stars, painted them white, and hung them with fishing line. Ta DA! Love how it turned out! Love that it's a little different from the typical mantle decor!
Thank you Angela for inspiring us with your frugal & beautiful mantel home decor!
Donsuemor shared with me a box recently of Biscotti. They taste amazing! Truly the best I have ever had. Donsuemor, makes elegant cookies, scones and biscotti using only the best ingredients, just like those its founders, Don and Susie Morris, used when they began making and selling them locally in Berkley, Calif. in 1976.
I am here to share with you a repacking gifting challenge. You can do this with any baked item! Kids can even get in on this fun craft!
All you need is:
- a terracotta pot bottom
- paint of your choice
- a soda bottle
- wooden message of your choice
- a wooden round ball with flat bottom from a craft store
- a cute ornament of your choice ( mine came from the Dollar Store)
- hot glue gun
You simply cut the bottle like you see in the picture. Cover the spout with ribbon, tacking with hot glue. Paint your planter bottom, ball & worded message, wait for it to dry. When dry attach ball with glue to top for your handle to form the cloche. Hot glue in your ornament into the cloche. Hot glue your worded message. Lastly arrange your Donsuemor baked goodies to display and give as a gift!
Whats awesome about this repacking gift is all winter long once the goodies are gone you can still use again and again or leave empty to sit as a pretty home decor item.

I have a guest blogger today, Jenny of Heck yeah, I Made It Myself!
Be sure to stop by and check out her blog! Today Jenny is going to show us how to make our own mineral powder makeup for natural, healthy, basic & simple beauty! This is frugal also as you know and will last you forever.
Recipe: Equal parts cornstarch and french green clay (I got mine online @ amazon.com but I think Whole Foods has it) and, if you want to add a hint of color, (I did) a little bit of cocoa powder.
I LOVE this stuff! It cost me about $10 for everything and I have enough for at least 5 years. Lol! Honestly. I used 1/4 c of each (which was an 1/8th of the bag of french green clay) and then put a small amount of the mixture in a leftover Mary Kay mineral powder container (that lasts me several months) and still had more than 1/4 of a cup of the mixture left. I gave that to my mother in law and still have more left than I know what to do with.
Going from an $18 each Mary Kay powder (which I loved, don't get me wrong) to $10 for more than I know what to do with? I'll take it!
And it works. My face looked really smooth and the french green clay has great benefits to your skin NATURALLY. I'm sold! :)
Ps: It smells like chocolate so how can you go wrong? Lol!
Thank you Jenny for sharing and teaching us today!

I was in a crafty mood. I love the Dollar Tree as you all know by now. I love making a craft fast, easy & cheap! I was thinking I wanted to make a simple home decor lamp for cheap. I came up with this!
All you need is:
- A package of Dollar Tree LED tea lights. ( these are so neat because they flicker like candles)
- A Dollar Tree wine class
- A piece of scarping paper
- A roll of Dollar Tree Ribbon
- And some hot glue ( they have that at the Dollar Tree too if you need it)
You simply cut a rectangular shape out of your paper they size you would like for the contemporary style lamp shade. This style was the easiest to cut out without a pattern, so I went with it. Then wrap around your glass to see how fit you want it. Then simply glue the edges. add some ribbon if you want to adorn it more like I did. Next place your lamp shade on the wine glass. Then lastly turn on your led tea light and drop it in the glass! You may need to take a pen to make it straight. Thats it, ten minutes or less and you have a beautiful craft to give your home that extra little glow.
There is your ten minute cute little home decor lamp! This is safe and will not start a fire if forgotten! These led lamps will burn for a few hundred hours! The led lights have on off switches so you can use only when you want. 2 Led tea lights come in pack so when that one is out you can put in the extra! Also they sell replacement batteries for only a dollar for 4 for them.
You can use this as a simple gift, to decorate any time of year, use for holiday decorating, use for special parties and entertaining. You could use as a night light in needed places!
This little lamps puts out some light!
