I love the tips in this book. Some of my favorites is she walks you through exactly how to effectively plan. When you plan effectively it will indeed help bring balance. That is where a lot of us moms who feel like a hamster running on the wheel and never going anywhere can relate. We are moving yet not being effective. Not accomplishing all we desire at the end of our day. She simply has so many valuable tips to help in all areas of running your household. My favorite tip is to have a planner! I recently was blessed with an Arc planner and I am using it and it is changing my life! If you need a little help in organizing your home life to a better balance check out her book.
Hello everyone reading. I wanted to share with you my super easy Sunday dinner we had this past week. I was so thrilled to try Hormel's Cure 81 dinner ham. It is already prepared you simply heat up. This smoked & cured ham is packaged in natural juices for maximum flavor.
I wanted to try a new glaze so I went toHormel.com to seek some advice. The Apple Honey Glaze struck my eye as something my family might like so I gave it a shot. The aroma & taste of this glaze was simply amazing on the ham. The ham by itself is awesome but why not have a glaze, ya know?
Apple Honey Glaze ( as taken from the Hormel.com site)
½ cup honey
¼ cup apple butter
¼ cup packed brown sugar
1½ tablespoons prepared mustard
In small saucepan, heat all ingredients until sugar is dissolved. Makes approximately 1 cup, enough to glaze 8 to 9-pound ham.
It was a BIG hit with my family. They loved it better than any glaze I have made. It only took minutes to make for the ham. This was so pleasant to discover at Hormel.com . I love the fact that I can print any recipe I like there and add it to my personal recipe book! You should really visit the site and see for yourself how easy it is and how helpful it is for new ideas in making your family meals.
I also wanted to serve a casserole side with the Apple Honey Glazed ham. Thanks to the Hormel site I also got the idea to add the Hormel Real Crumbled Bacon to the traditional green bean casserole. I prepared it the same way I always do but just added in the Applewood Smoke Bacon Crumbles to give it a flare of new flavor to accompany the Apple Honey Glazed Ham.
Here is a shot of the casserole before I cooked it after adding in the bacon. After cooking I added some fried onions too, then popped back in the oven for 3 minutes to brown. Adding this Applewood Smoke Bacon gave it the new twist with the easy effort I was looking for. It really did pair very nicely with the Apple Honey Glazed ham, just as I hoped it would! We warmed some of the kids favorite dinner rolls and the meal was complete.
Thanks for coming to our simple Sunday dinner. I like easy & simple and this meal is certainly easy to do. I hope you enjoyed the ideas, I know we sure did!
Thank you all who entered the giveaways recently at my site! Isn't it fun to win?!

Have you ever got caught in a busy rut in family life where sometimes it is just easier to go grab fast food? Well we all know that the drive thru food is not as healthy for us as a home cooked meal. I have an idea for you. Instead of picking up take out try this FAST & crazy EASY meal.
You simply make some instant mashed potatoes they way your family likes. Or use left over ones. My family loves them with low fat milk, real butter & herbs to give it flare. Then while that is coming to a boil heat in a pan or microwave Hormel's Herb Rubbed Italian Style Beef Roast. I prefer the taste of cooking it in the pan over the microwave. It takes less than 8 minutes to heat on the stove top. You can chop it up and put on top of the potatoes for a fast in under ten minutes hearty meal for your family. Serve with a prepackaged salad and your off to the races! The real Au jus beed has no preservatives. It is low in sodium compared to a fast food burger and the beef is ooooo soo good. This meal is a no brainer and is SUPER fast and can be done in less than 10 minutes. I timed myself in doing this and it was only 8 minutes. You wait that long in a fast food line at times right? The Hormel Refrigerated Entree line of products are a time saver and better for you than fast foods. They take the work out of thinking & prepping so you can do what you need to carry on doing with your family. This one package easily fed a family of 4 this evening. Get some at your local super market and them on hand for a fast delicious meal.
This beef is by far the most tastiest Hormel item we have tasted to date. It tastes like something I had just made from the slow cooker.

This week I tired something totally new for me. I have never ever cooked a pork tenderloin before. I also recently planted a little herb garden on my balcony. I decided what better time than to use my little garden for the first time this season on my new Hormel pork tenderloin.
I first rubbed the pork with some garlic powder & onion powder. Next I simply chopped some chives, parsley & rosemary to add on top. I baked my tenderloin covered with a tad bit of water in the base. This meat is extra lean so I loved that about it since I have to do low fat meats for myself. This is a super cut of meat that is so very easy to cook.
The tenderloin turned out great. It tasted amazing keeping it simple. We are pleased & will eat this again. I served it with a great southern side of potatoes & green beans cooked together.
I also want to share another recipe idea for a pork tenderloin if you decided to make one. I got this from Hormel.com . I will be trying this and many other great ideas for pork tenderloin via Hormel's site.
To find even more fabulous recipes to use with Hormel Pork Tenderloins visit HormelFoodsRecipes.com which has more in depth choices of recipes than the main Hormel site.

Spring is in the air. But it is in the clothes too thanks to Purex's Crystals new in wash fragrance ScentSplash! As a Purex Insider I was sent a sample to "smell" I mean try & give my honest feed back. I just had to do that. hehe! I also want to give away to a few readers samples too! So if your interested enter below by commenting all about what you love about Spring. I was given the Fresh Spring Water scent. Wow it is a dose of aromatherapy for sure. When I smell it every single time it puts a smile on my face and satisfaction in my heart. It brings to mind Spring & clean & fresh all the things I love. This great way to eliminate laundry odors comes in 2 other scents such as Fresh Lavender Blossom & Fresh Mountain Breeze. These make it truly easy to have fresh laundry. I love the fact it is liquid freshness you simply add in the wash with your regular fabric softener. There are tiny little crsytals that get washed into your clothes that will not harm you that when you pull your clothes out to wear weeks later maybe and you touch or rub the clothing it activates the microscopic crystals to give you day one freshness!

Have you ever tried a sugar scrub before?
I had never made homemade teriyaki sauce. I finally did. Here is the recipe from Food.com I used. It worked great and tasted amazing! The picture above is my finished product! I mixed the sauce in with stir fried veggies, chicken & noodles I had made. This was a great dinner. I had no idea making my teriyaki would be so easy!
I was bored with my extra 3rd floor tiny apartment bathroom. I did not want to spend a lot & wanted it to be super frugal. I can't change the paint so I worked with what I could do. I love eclectic looks so mine is exactly that nothing matches.
First up was the basic mirror. I wanted a change. I went to Home Depot and bought some white trim board. I had pre-measured my mirror and made sure it was at least an inch over the size dimensions on each side. I had Home Depot cut it for me. They do only a straight cut free. It works out that way because the mirror brackets bulk out and the boards will be over lapped to cover them with no special tools needed.
You do not need a hammer or nails just a glue gun! Since this is a rental , this frame is designed to be temporary so when I move I can simply pop it off to put back in the original state. You simply put half the board on the mirror and the other half over hangs. Line them up to meet at the edges evenly. Appy one string of glue down one board at a time and press to the mirror. Then went you get to the top & bottom hot glue the boards together as much as you want on the corners.
MAKE SURE your boards you choose are super light weight so it all holds nicely. Mine is holding up great!
Cost = less than 9 dollars!
Next I added new towels. We had not had new towels in 7 years. Our towels still where holding up fine but I was tired of looking at them. So I went to find some new towels & wash cloths on clearance and found some at Ross! I threw a Target dish towel I had never used on top for dramatic affect!
Cost=less than $14
Also if you see the mess in the above picture it is just plain yucky. My next tip is to simply de-clutter!
For this tip it is to simply use what you have on hand & be creative to decorate or buy accents that are super frugal. I already had that basket. The ribbon in it matched my towels perfectly! The frame below I had for 2 years I bought for only .25 cents at a yard sale. The letter is my last name initial I got it with a coupon at a hobby store for .75 cents. The ribbon holding the letter in the frame was the ribbon that came wrapped around the towels simply up-cycled. I simply sprayed both the frame & letter with some metallic spray paint I already had.
Cost = $1.00
The next little item was a clip on flower I have had forever & a old glass chives jar! I just clipped the flower on it and there ya go!
Simply change your shower curtain. I bought my new one at a thrift store for $2.00! It was one I found at Target before that I wanted but passed on due to the price. I was happy to get it at such a steal this time around. It is cloth & super washable and I looked it over not a thing wrong with it! It was like brand new. I had been looking at the same dark curtain for years. I love black but after a long hard winter I wanted something springy to lighten things up a bit! I love my old curtain too so I washed it up and packed away for the future when I want to mix things up a bit again!
There ya have my super frugal, super fast bathroom weekend makeover. It is totally doable under $30 if you put on your thinking cap! I do not think Martha Stewart will be calling me anytime soon but I love my light blue towels with my light pink shower curtain. I love my mirror no longer looks blah & I took the time to de-clutter & make some new wall art! I love my new cozier apartment bath room in my loft.
Oh and by the way if you want to see how I made the glass Qtip & cotton ball holders you can view a past post here.
A great place to visit here in the Raleigh NC area is the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. Admission is free to all. They have something for everyone to see & to fascinate. If you are a visitor to Raleigh this is a must see destination. I love taking my homeschooler to this great museum.
The above pictures do not do the museum justice. There is so much more to be seen, it was just impossible to share it all with you here but I hope it will give you some sort of an idea!
The only exhibit that costs in the Museum is the non permanent exhibit that is often a traveling exhibit. The latest we had was The World's Largest Dinosaur which leaves April 12th and a new one will come in it's place. You will see some highlight pictures of that exhibit in my picture gallery above as well as highlight pictures of other permanent exhibits.
They also have a Discovery room for kids where they can touch & explore anything they wish! There is even an enclosed bee colony kids can walk up & see the bees hard at work & see the Queen bee!
Below is a great artist rendering of the newest part of the Museum. The Nature Research Center at the Daily Planet! Yes it is inside the globe!
